Who these terms are between
This website is operated by Valuation Group Pty Ltd (ABN 48 702 469 252). Independent Business Valuation by Valuation Group is a brand of Valuation Group Pty Ltd. It is not a separate company, partnership or legal entity, and it is not associated with any other business that uses a similar name. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Valuation Group Pty Ltd, and "you" means the person using the site.
By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use it. They apply to the website only, not to any valuation we carry out for you.
Website content is general information
The guides, answers and illustrative examples on this site explain how private businesses are generally valued. They are written for a broad audience and do not take account of your structure, records or plans. They are not a valuation of your business.
We value businesses and business ownership interests. We do not give tax, legal, investment or financial product advice, and nothing on this site is that advice. Whether you need a valuation for the 1 July 2027 CGT changes, or may be able to choose the apportionment method the Government is preparing (still a draft in October 2026), is a question for your tax adviser. Not every owner will need one, and companies are treated differently from individuals and trusts.
Our disclaimer sets out these limits in more detail and forms part of these terms.
Fees shown here are fixed, but not an offer
Fees on this website are in Australian dollars and exclude GST. We charge one fixed fee of $999 + GST for a full valuation report on one business or ownership interest with annual turnover under $10 million. For turnover over $10 million, groups of entities, several interests and specialist analysis, the fee is quoted in writing before we start. Each additional valuation date is $495 + GST and each additional entity or interest is $795 + GST, but only where the engagement letter lists them.
A fee shown on a page, in the quote form or in an acknowledgement email is an invitation to talk about scope. It is not an offer you can accept by paying, and it does not bind either of us. The fixed fee applies once we confirm the interest, purpose, structure and records fit the fixed-fee scope. Anything outside it is quoted in writing before we start. Fixed fee, confirmed in writing before we start. No hourly billing and no surprises.
Delivery is 2 business days for a business with turnover under $2 million and 3 business days for turnover $2 million to $10 million. Delivery time starts once payment and all required information have been received, and pauses while we wait for answers to our questions or your signed representation letter. A valuation as at 30 June 2027 is prepared after that date, once your records to 30 June 2027 are available. A booking made before then holds a place and allows preparation work, but no report as at that date is signed before the date has passed.
Our business valuation cost page explains what each fee covers.
Your engagement letter governs the valuation
Sending an enquiry, completing the quote form, calling us or seeing a fee does not engage us or oblige either of us to go ahead. An engagement starts only when you accept our written engagement letter. It sets out the interest being valued, the purpose, the valuation date, who may rely on the report, the scope, the information you will provide, the fee, the timing and the terms that apply to the work, including liability.
If anything on this website differs from your engagement letter, the letter applies. Points from our standard terms worth knowing before you enquire:
- A calculation or limited-scope engagement is not a full valuation report. The letter says which one you are getting.
- Before the final report is signed, the client signs a representation letter confirming that the information supplied is complete and accurate.
- Software helps us organise and check information. A qualified valuer makes every valuation judgement and signs every report.
- We value businesses and business ownership interests only. We do not value real estate, vehicles or personal possessions, and we do not provide standalone plant and equipment valuations. Where a business valuation needs a figure for land, buildings or specialised plant, we use a qualified specialist's valuation as an input or state the assumption we have made.
- Family law property settlements are prepared through our dedicated family law practice, Family Law Valuations, which issues its own engagement terms.
How a valuation report may be used
A report is prepared for the purpose, valuation date and intended users named in it. Showing it to a lender, a buyer or the other shareholders does not let them rely on it. If a third party needs to rely on it, tell us before we start so they can be named. Using a report for another purpose, or reliance by anyone not named, needs our written consent.
A report prepared for a commercial or tax purpose is not an expert report for a court or tribunal. Expert evidence is a separate engagement with its own scope and fee, and the fee already paid is credited to the extent the earlier work can be used. Nothing in our terms stops anyone complying with a subpoena, court order or other legal duty to disclose.
No valuer can promise that the ATO, a court or a counterparty will accept a particular value. We provide a reasoned, documented report you and your adviser can rely on for its stated purpose.
Documents, confidentiality and privacy
This website does not accept documents. Once an engagement starts, financial documents come only through the secure upload link on your matter, never by email and never through a website form. Please do not paste financial statements, tax returns or payroll records into an enquiry.
We treat what you provide as confidential, and we can sign a confidentiality undertaking before sensitive documents are shared. Our privacy policy explains what personal information we collect through this site, why, who we share it with and how to ask for access or correction. It forms part of these terms.
Forms, tools and accountant referrals
The quote form and any checker on this site give general indications from the answers you enter. They are not a valuation or tax advice, and a result is only as good as the answers behind it.
If you are an accountant or adviser, these extra points apply:
- Before you send a client's details through the referral or bulk quotation forms, you must have that client's consent to share them with us.
- A referring accountant sees a client's matter or documents only with that client's written consent.
- Submitting a partner application does not make you a partner. Partner benefits apply only under a signed partner agreement, and partners pay the same fixed fee as other clients.
- A bulk quotation is a planning figure. Each valuation in it still has its scope and fee confirmed in writing before work starts.
Acceptable use
You may use this website to read, research, request a quote and contact us. You must not:

- submit false information, or another person's details without their authority
- use the forms to send advertising or other unsolicited commercial messages

You may read and print pages for your own use, share a page with your adviser, and quote a short extract if you name Independent Business Valuation and link to the page.

Links to other websites
We link to legislation, the ATO, Treasury and other sources so you can check what we say against the original. We do not control third-party websites, we are not responsible for their content or availability, and a link is not an endorsement.
Accuracy, updates and availability
We take care to keep the content accurate, and each page shows when it was last updated. Tax law and ATO guidance change, and some detail of the 1 July 2027 CGT changes, such as whether and how the apportionment method the Government is preparing is finalised, may be settled after a page was written. Content is current only at its updated date.
We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time, and we do not promise it will always be available or fault free.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, in Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this website or reliance on its general information, including loss of profit, loss of opportunity or indirect or consequential loss. Liability for a valuation engagement is dealt with in its engagement letter.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and the courts that hear appeals from them. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, it is severed and the rest continues to apply.
Changes to these terms and contact
We may update these terms. The version on this page applies from the date shown at the top. Questions can go to valuations@valuationgroup.au or 0433 475 518 (Mon to Fri, 9am to 5:30pm AEST).
