When a batch makes sense
Most firms have a cluster of clients who want a business value at the same date: 30 June 2027 for the CGT changes, a group restructure or a round of succession planning. Scoping them together gives you one set of terms, one schedule and one status report.
Independent Business Valuation values businesses and ownership interests: whole businesses, private company shares, trust units, partnership interests and goodwill. Leave property, vehicles and personal assets off the list.
Triage the list first
Not every client will need a valuation for 30 June 2027. Australian resident individuals and trusts with at least one eligible beneficiary are generally treated as having sold and reacquired their CGT assets at market value just before 1 July 2027, but a taxpayer may be able to choose a government apportioning method instead once it is finalised (it was still a draft at the time of writing). A company's own assets are generally outside the rule, because companies can't use the 50% discount, except any it has held since before 20 September 1985, although shares held by an individual or a trust may be affected. You decide, as tax adviser, which clients a market value suits. Our guide to valuation or apportionment covers the reasoning.
Scoping the batch
A batch quote starts with a summary, not a data dump. The bulk quotation request form asks for numbers and categories only: no client names, tax file numbers or financial statements, and no document upload on this website.
- How many clients, and how many engagements that makes. One client may hold two interests.
- The structures: company, discretionary trust, unit trust, partnership, sole trader or a group.
- What is being valued: the whole business, all or some of the shares, units, a partnership interest or goodwill.
- The turnover mix: how many are under $2 million, how many are $2 million to $10 million and how many are over $10 million.
- The valuation dates: 30 June 2027, a current date, a past date such as a restructure, or a mix.
- The records: whether recent financial statements exist, and when each client's figures to 30 June 2027 should be final.
- Anything unusual: related-party leases, a minority holder, a pending sale, a dispute or a family law matter.
We confirm which engagements fit the fixed fee, flag anything that needs its own quote and ask about any gaps.

Batch pricing, agreed in writing
Every engagement gets its own line in a written batch letter, showing its scope and fee. Nothing starts until that letter is agreed. Fixed fee, confirmed in writing before we start. No hourly billing and no surprises.
| Engagement | Fits | Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed Fee Business Valuation | One business or interest, annual turnover under $10 million | $999 + GST |
| Complex Valuation | Turnover over $10 million, groups, several interests or specialist analysis | Quoted in writing |
| Additional valuation date | The same engagement at a second date | $495 + GST |
| Additional entity or interest | A further entity or interest in the same engagement | $795 + GST |
Accountant partners pay the same fixed fee: a batch changes the scheduling and handling, not the price. The fixed fee applies once we confirm the interest, purpose, structure and records fit the fixed-fee scope. Anything outside it is quoted in writing before we start. If a client's records reveal something the summary missed, such as a second trading entity, we confirm the change in writing on that client's line before doing extra work.
What a batch letter can look like
A delivery schedule agreed before we start
Before we start, we agree a schedule: which engagements go in which wave, what we need from each client and when, and how often we report status.
Within it, each engagement runs on its own clock: 2 business days for turnover under $2 million and 3 business days for turnover $2 million to $10 million. Delivery time starts once payment and all required information have been received, and pauses while we wait for answers to our questions or your signed representation letter. Complex engagements have timing agreed in writing.
For 30 June 2027 values
A valuation as at 30 June 2027 is prepared after that date, once your records to 30 June 2027 are available. You can book your place now. Useful work happens on both sides of that date.
- Before 30 June 2027: agree the batch letter, reserve capacity for each wave, collect consents, confirm ownership, and gather prior financial statements, trust deeds or constitutions, shareholder agreements and leases.
- After 30 June 2027: collect each client's figures to that date as they are finalised, then value in the agreed order.
Setting waves by when you expect to finalise each client's 2027 accounts means the ready clients go first. Tell us your deadline and we will tell you on the call whether we can meet it.
Consent and secure collection, client by client
A batch is priced and scheduled together, but every client is their own matter. Each client confirms their engagement in writing and gives written consent before your firm can see their matter or documents.
Documents come only through the secure upload link on each client's matter: never by email, never as one bundle for the batch and never through this website. Each link carries a checklist that fits the structure, so a trust is asked for its deed and a company for its constitution and share register. We can sign a confidentiality undertaking before sensitive documents are shared.
Status tracking across the batch
You get a status report for the whole batch, on the rhythm set in the schedule, with one line per engagement moving through the same stages:
- Scoped: scope and fee confirmed in the batch letter.
- Engaged: engagement and consent confirmed in writing.
- Documents requested: upload link and checklist issued.
- Ready: checklist complete and payment received, so the delivery clock starts.
- In valuation, then in review.
- Draft issued for a factual accuracy check.
- Final issued, after the signed representation letter.
Exceptions are called out, not buried: a missing consent, a late document, a scope change.
How each valuation is reviewed
A batch is not a production line. A trust running a trade business and a minority stake in a private company are not valued the same way. The method is chosen for each engagement; only the report format stays consistent.
Software helps us organise and check information. Every judgement is made, and every report signed, by a suitably qualified business valuer at Valuation Group, and each valuation is reviewed internally before a draft goes out.
The draft goes to the client, and to your firm where the client has consented, for a factual check. Corrections to facts are welcome, such as a wrong lease term. Requests to reach a particular number are not: an independent value is only useful if it stays independent. The client signs a representation letter before the final report. No valuer can promise how the ATO or a court will view a value; you get a reasoned, documented report you can rely on.
What sits outside a batch
- Family law matters go to our dedicated family law practice, Family Law Valuations.
- Court or tribunal work is a separate engagement with its own fee. A report for tax or commercial purposes is not a court expert report.
- A calculation or limited-scope engagement is not a full valuation report. If one is proposed for any client, the batch letter says so.
- Tax advice stays with you. We value; we do not advise.

Questions
Is there a minimum number of clients for a batch?
A batch is simply several clients scoped together, so there is no need to wait for a long list. The Accountant Partner Program is separate: partners pay the same fixed fee and get priority scheduling and a single point of contact under a signed agreement.
Can you finish our clients' 30 June 2027 valuations before that date?
No. A valuation as at 30 June 2027 is prepared after that date, once your records to 30 June 2027 are available. You can book your place now. Before then we agree the batch, collect consents and gather historical records.
Should every client on our list get a valuation?
Not necessarily. Some taxpayers may use a permitted apportionment method (once finalised), companies are treated differently for their own assets, and the small business CGT concessions continue where the conditions are met. You decide which clients a value suits.
What happens if one client's records are late?
That engagement waits and the rest of the batch keeps moving. Delivery time starts once payment and all required information have been received, and pauses while we wait for answers to our questions or your signed representation letter. If the delay pushes the client into a later wave, we update the schedule and tell you.
Can we add clients after the batch letter is agreed?
Yes. Each new client becomes a new line with its own scope and fee, confirmed in writing, in a wave with capacity. The terms already agreed for the others do not change.
Will the reports look the same across the batch?
The format will, so your team finds the value, method and key assumptions in the same place every time. The analysis will not, because each interest is valued on its own facts.
