Accountants and advisers

How do accountants refer clients for a business valuation?

Get the client's agreement, then choose a route: the single client referral form for one matter, a bulk quotation request for a list, or the Accountant Partner Program for a steady flow.

  • Australia-wide
  • $999 + GST fixed fee
  • Independent of your accountant
  • Secure document collection

Short answer

Get the client's agreement, then choose a route: the single client referral form for one matter, a bulk quotation request for a list, or the Accountant Partner Program for a steady flow. We confirm scope and a fixed fee in writing. Records arrive through a secure link, and your firm sees the matter only with the client's written consent.

Pick the route that fits your volume

The three routes differ in volume, not in the work: whichever you use, Independent Business Valuation prepares the same full valuation report.

Three ways to refer
RouteBest forWhat you send
Single client referralOne client, nowEntity, interest, purpose, valuation date, turnover band and confirmation that the client agrees
Bulk quotation requestA list to scope at once, such as 30 June 2027 clientsNumbers only: client count, structures, turnover mix and dates. No names or documents
Accountant Partner ProgramA steady flow of referralsAn application: firm, ABN, state, expected volume and client types

One client, step by step

  1. Decide with the clientWhether a valuation suits is your call as their adviser. Some clients may use an apportioning method instead, once it is finalised, and a company’s own assets are generally outside the 30 June 2027 rule, except assets it acquired before 20 September 1985.
  2. Send the referralGet the interest right. A client's 40% shareholding is a different engagement from the whole business the company runs.
  3. We scope it with the clientWe confirm interest, purpose, structure and records, then put scope and fee in writing. The client usually engages and pays us directly.
  4. Records through the secure linkThe client, or your office with consent, uploads records through the secure link on the matter. Never by email.
  5. Draft, then finala suitably qualified business valuer at Valuation Group prepares the valuation. After a factual check of the draft, the client signs a representation letter and the final report issues.

Refer a client

A few details are enough. We confirm the scope and fee with you or your client in writing before any work starts. A referring accountant sees a client's matter or documents only with that client's written consent.

Your details

Needed if you leave your client's contact details blank.

Your client

If you add your client's contact details we can contact them directly. Leave them blank and we will come back to you first.

For example the shareholding involved or a deadline. Please do not include financial details or attach documents.

Your information stays confidential. Financial documents come only through the secure upload link on your matter, never by email and never through this website.

Partner program and bulk batches

Partners pay the same fixed fee as any client: $999 + GST for an eligible engagement. The fixed fee applies once we confirm the interest, purpose, structure and records fit the fixed-fee scope. Anything outside it is quoted in writing before we start. A signed partner agreement adds service, not a discount: priority scheduling, batch handling and status updates where the client consents. We pay no referral fees or commissions, so the valuation stays independent of the referring firm.

For a batch, you send an anonymous summary and we return a written batch letter: one line and fee per engagement, and a delivery schedule in waves. Each client still gives their own consent and uploads through their own link.

A valuation as at 30 June 2027 is prepared after that date, once your records to 30 June 2027 are available. You can book your place now. Partners and batches can reserve places now, so each matter starts once the accounts are final.

Can my firm upload the financial statements?

Yes, with the client's consent, through the secure upload link on their matter. Not by email, and not through this website, which has no document upload.
